It's been a couple of weeks since the last blog post and 8 weeks post chemo. I have now completed the second surgery to replace the temporary implant for a permanent one. Big relief to have the temporary one out as it felt uncomfortable, tight, had twisted around inside and was sticking out in places... Continue Reading →

On the run

First run since chemo finished at 29 minutes - exhausted, but happy with that! Also back in the saddle at BOOM Cycle since last week. I'd really like to get my energy levels higher and higher in the coming days and weeks. It looks like my surgery to replace the temporary implant with a permanent... Continue Reading →

Moving along

Hard to believe it's been a month since my last chemo session. In some ways the time has passed quickly and in others it seems like only yesterday. I've been feeling good, my energy levels are better than a couple of weeks ago even if not quite back to normal. I noticed that I feel... Continue Reading →

Reflections

Tomorrow marks two weeks since my last infusion. My energy levels are good, I’ve been exercising, socialising, working and feeling better each day. On this stormy Easter weekend, I wanted to reflect on some of the things I learnt and experienced. Reflecting has helped me remember and maybe some of the information will help someone... Hair

It's been a week since my treatments finished. I'm still losing hair every day and my hair has thinned, especially towards the back. BUT I think I can safely say that I managed to hold on to a lot of it! SO happy! It seems to be even curlier than before and being graced with... Continue Reading →

Emotional

As this week comes to an end, I'm finally starting to feel near-normal again. Day 1 after treatment went by uneventful but with quite a lot of nausea. I don't think the additional anti-sickness that was meant to tackle delayed nausea was as effective as I had hoped. Towards the evening of that day on... Continue Reading →

Done!

Done with the cold cap, done with having drugs put into my body and not knowing how I will react to them, done with torturing my poor veins on my right arm, done with anti-sickness tablets (soon), done with counting days to feel better, done counting down to the next treatment. DONE DONE DONE! What... Continue Reading →

Light at the end of the tunnel

I’ve just come back from a meeting with my Oncologist and I feel positive. I was dreading going back to that place – both because of the memories of nausea from my last treatment and because I knew it was crunch time with regards to making a decision about radiotherapy. When we first had discussions... Continue Reading →

Clouds lifting

It’s been a week since my last treatment and I feel a lot better. This time really took its toll. I can still feel slight waves of nausea every now and again but nothing compared to the last few days. I also find myself suddenly hit by tiredness and afternoon siestas seem to be a... Hangover III

It’s the third day post EC number three and I’m still feeling waves of nausea. Feels like a massive hangover with all the typical hangover symptoms: light headedness, dry mouth, slight headache, nausea, craving for strong tasting foods, tiredness, no motivation, etc. This is definitely the most nausea I have felt since treatments began a... Time flies

Two weeks post second cycle, hard to believe the third one is just around the corner next week. I’m continuing to feel good both physically and mentally aside from a bit of toothache, a cold and some lower arm pain. Having avoided coughs and splutters on tubes and in offices for this long, I woke... Continue Reading →

Run run run

Kicking the weekend off with a 5km run earlier this morning in the gym. Managed to shave 3 minutes off the last run and on day 8 after chemo and managed 30mins and a few seconds. Feeling good! Looking forward to some warmer temperature so I can run outside again!
